THE PROCLAIMERS – GLASGOW : THE HYDRO – Saturday 12^th October with Special Guests Glasvegas and Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire.

The Proclaimers are the first Scottish based act to announce a show at The Hydro in Glasgow. Craig and Charlie said “We are very honoured to be asked to play in the first month of The Hydro’s opening and are looking forward to it immensely. Its fantastic to have Glasvegas along with Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire also performing to make it a really special evening.”

With The Proclaimers having a busy spring/summer tour lined up this show ends the year in grand style as their only full concert appearance in Scotland this year and their last gig until they start their next world tour in 2015.

The Hydro is Scotland’s new home of entertainment. Designed by world-renowned architects Foster and Partners, The Hydro will be the first purpose built concert venue of its scale especially designed for concerts.

Modelled on Greek and Roman amphitheatres, the 45m tall arena is designed from the inside out, visitors will enjoy excellent sightlines and with its iconic architecture The Hydro offers an intimate artists and audience experience with acoustics second to none.

The Hydro includes 5 food outlets, 9 bars and 2 multi purpose lounges and will be open on the night from 6pm with the show starting at 7pm.

BCC Radio 4 – A Lyrical Journey – Sunshine On Leith

Jonathan Maitlands’s series about the stories behind much loved pop anthems.

On a hill overlooking the Firth of Forth, The Proclaimers perform their song ‘Sunshine on Leith’, which has become a source of great pride for this Edinburgh district, even becoming the beloved anthem of Hibernian FC.

Leading up to the performance, presenter Jonathan Maitland meets Charlie and Craig and discovers the inspiration behind the lyrics and their links to the area. As Maitland reflects on the changes in Leith in the 24 years since the record’s release, he also discusses the impact of the song around Edinburgh and beyond.

The journey takes Maitland to Leith Docks to meet Scottish and maritime historian Eric Graham and local expert Susan Morrison, who explain how the docks, once the entry point to the wider world, have now become a symbol of redevelopment and social change in the area.

Jonathan also hears from Hibs FC fans for which the song holds a special meaning, and witnesses the great emotion the song provokes.

The Proclaimers announce USA Acoustic Shows April 2013

The Proclaimers will be doing a small run of acoustic shows to coincide with the US release of the ‘Like Comedy’ album. They then regroup with their live band in June for a string of UK and European festivals and events over the summer.

Many congratualtions to all involved with The John Byrne Award, which presents sixth-year Edinburgh pupils with a unique challenge. The competition encourages students to think about the values that are most important to them.

SUNSHINE ON LEITH TO START SHOOTING IN EDINBURGH WITH A CAST INCLUDING PETER MULLAN AND JANE HORROCKS

LONDON & GLASGOW – 5^th November, 2012 –DNA and Black Camel Pictures are delighted to announce that shooting for SUNSHINE ON LEITH began on 4^th November 2012. The film will shoot for 6 weeks in and around the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland.

SUNSHINE ON LEITH stars Peter Mullan (War Horse, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1) and Jane Horrocks (Little Voice), George McKay (Defiance, The Boys are Back), Kevin Guthrie, Antonia Thomas (‘Misfits’) and Freya Mavor (‘Skins’).

This universally appealing contemporary musical is set in Scotland and imaginatively features the legendary music of The Proclaimers to tell amoving and uplifting story.

Written and adapted by Stephen Greenhorn from his hugely successful and critically acclaimed stage musical of the same name, SUNSHINE ON LEITH is directed by Dexter Fletcher (Wild Bill) and produced by Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, and Arabella Page Croft and Kieran Parker from Black Camel Pictures.

Director, Dexter Fletcher said “With Sunshine on Leith we really have something special that will put smiles on the most hardened faces.Great songs, a wonderful cast and a lot of heart will create our sunshine world.”
